The Monument.

Since my family was out here for Hayes' priesthood ordination we did a few things around town.  We have lived here for almost 5 years and we have never gone inside the Monument of Monument Circle. We have had picnics down there and walked around it numerous times. Well, no more. We have actually gone to the museum downstairs and the top of the monument.

You can pay $2 to ride the elevator to the top OR you can walk the stairs. Of course, stairs were calling our names.  We started up. Me holding Kyler. Ryan holding Strider. Taegen and Hayes started up and we really didn't see them until the top. They just plugged right along. As we walked up the stairs got narrower and narrower. People were coming down but it was SO squishy that you couldn't even fit two people going down or up. We would have to squish against the wall so others can get down. Also, as you got closer to the top it got hotter and hotter. It was quite the experience.  In case anybody would love to re-live our experience....too bad. The monument is actually closed right nor for renovations. Maybe the staircase will be a little easier to handle. It really wasn't THAT bad. It just was hot and squishy.  Once you got to the top. Well, it wasn't much bigger. It was cool though to look out and see Indianapolis.

This is a picture of the elevator shaft that we were circling as we would walk up the stairs.
And... Walah...we all survived. This is the whole bunch of us at the bottom of the monument. It was actually really fun to just wander and do Indianapolis things.

What does the monument look like from the outside? Also, you and Ryan make a VERY good looking couple from the 1800s!
