Sleep Studies

Kyler is a trooper. His little body has been through SO much in his five years.  This is one of those super fun tests that he has got to do, not only once, but twice.  The first sleep study determined that he had severe obstructive sleep apnea.  He got his tonsils and adenoids removed which was another fun surgery and overnight hospital stay.  Anyways, after the surgery they like to do a follow up sleep study to see if the surgery helped.  He is still pretty restless at night and wakes up a few times every night.  So...we did the sleep study (this was actually back in February).
This is the bed that Kyler gets to sleep in.  He gets about 5 million little probes stuck to his head to monitor all his brain movement or something.

After they get all the probe things on they wrap his head with an ace bandage to keep all the cords together.  Then they put a tube up his nose to determine his breathing and oxygen or something. Then they have a little tiny microphone by his mouth to listen for snoring or heavy breathing.  Oh ya, they also have two things around his stomach to test something. Then they have an oxygen monitor on his toe. Seriously, how in the world is he suppose to sleep with all this crap on him.  The first time we did a sleep study was horrible. He cried the entire hour it took them to get all the crap on him.  The second time though he just sat there and let them do what they had to do. He is seriously so good at how he deals with all the tests and stuff that he has gone through.,

The final result: he still has mild obstructive sleep apnea, but it's mild enough to do nothing until further notice.

Yeah, Chris did a sleep study a while back, but he never was able to fall asleep. I really don't know how anyone does. Well, because he never fell asleep, they could't determine anything. But they still charged us $3,000.00. Fun times.

Glad Kyler was able to fall asleep. Poor kid.
